setting up Oracle12c and windows 2016 AD authentication

Trying to configure sso for windows users to a Linux based db with kerberos.

We're running 12.1.0.2 SE on Redhat 7.3 EE

Domain is Windows 2016

client windows 10

Support  pointed me to -  Configuring ASO Kerberos Authentication with a Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 Active Directory KDC (Doc ID 1304004.1 ) however it is written for 11g and win 2003 but i assume it should be very similar. 

In review of the doc - for the windows client it says it needs Oracle client installed and be a domain member.  the cleint is part of the domain and have i have 12.1.0.2 client installed
