MTM - How many assets can be included in the 'in list'

I will be using the Mass Transaction Manager to make 4500 asset book changes (delivered functionality).  However since I cannot "weed" down my assets using the combination of the other criteria, I am going to use the Business Unit, Book and Asset ID as my criteria to search for my applicable assets.  My questions are:

  1. Is there a limit to the number of assetS that should be included in the 'in list' string
  2. Does anyone know any easier way to populate these asset rather than by selecting them one by one.

Goal: To use delivered, vanilla functionality.
