Account Details - Selecting Operating Unit clears Status Field

With MOAC, where a user has access to multiple operating units, when they navigate to AR - Account Details, the screen shows a default for Status as Open, but once they select the Operating Unit, that status clears.  Is there anyway to stop this so that when a user selects the Operating unit the Status field remains set to Open unless changed?
