Can JDE push data to AIS Server?

We are going to use AIS Server JSON calls to import web orders to JDE.  As for JDE communicating back to the web application (ie shipment notice), can JDE push data to AIS Server and ultimately the web app OR do all inquiries and processing need to be initiated by AIS?  IF data cannot be pushed from JDE to AIS Server, what are other options for getting data from JDE to the web app?  I assume EDI text files are one option.  Others?
