Enterprise Asset Management by Project

I’ve been trying reading about capabilities of eAM and I haven’t been
able to determine if it may meet our needs relative to a project manager
checking on the availability of a shared piece of equipment and then making a
request for it to be moved to the project location.  Do you know if eAM
provides this functionality or is it a module purely for maintenance?
