Building a server with image from server with GI / DB installed / configured

Client asked the question:

- Install / configure GI and DB (not RAC / RAC One Node) 12.2.0.1 on a single Linux server.

- Take a snapshot image of the server at OS level.

- Build a new Linux server with the same settings / configuration but different hostname / IP, with the saved image without installing / configuring GI and DB.

Will this work? Please advise.
