ARM Currency Decimal Places in System Settings

Hello,

I am curious on what the decimal place field controls in the system settings in ARM.  Is it just a display control?  Or does it truly effect the data in ARM?  We currently load data through FDMEE into ARM.  I am on version 11.1.2.4.251
