INVALID NUMBER ERROR ( ORA-01722) One instance happen this Error But NOT in Other Instance

Hi

We are facing a situation in which the table have column as VARCHAR2 is giving a numeric value in DEV/UAT.  UAT instance is showing "ORA - 01722 Invalid Number error" but DEV instance is working fine. Please suggest a probable cause for this.
