orachk 18.3 "root password for <host> was incorrect. 2 retries remaining."

I'm trying to run the latest 18.3 standalone oracheck on a RAC RHEL 6.1 host but it appears to be failing to store the root password into the scripts variable or its incorrectly trying to run commands as root. This seems to be a problem with the 18.x orachecks. I can su to root as oracle with "su" without any issues however if I supply the root password it replies that its invalid the first time, then at the second prompt it will continue after I supply the password. Even though it continues later on during the script it throws
