Assets Lines - You have entered an invalid split amount

Thank you taking the time out to read this. I would really appreciate it if someone can point me on a possible solution.

We are trying to split an asset for one of Capital Projects. The Asset Line in question is negative, however, the asset line details that we want to split is positive. When I try to split the asset, I get the error "You have entered an invalid split amount". I understand from the functionality perspective (below quote). I have also attached screen shots below of the step-by-step process and error.

Doc ID 231635.1If an asset line is split into multiple lines that include an amount that is either (1) higher than the unassigned amount, or (2) a negative amount, this would equate to a percentage either greater than 100 or less than 0. The form tests input to verify that the percentage is between 1 and 100, and if it isn't, it returns the error.
