Label Width Limitation and Alignment

Why are label widths greater than 80 not allowed in aligning elements in upper blocks (uDesigner). This is very frustrating and makes the forms look sloppy and unprofessional. Any workaround? I've tried 2 columns, however, the text gets bunched up over multiple lines. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
