Incremental backup failure on primary causing the Wait for Gap in Physcial Standy.

In Normal Data guard setup between Primary and Physical standby there is wait for gap show once the incremental backup failed in Primary.

Can someone explain this. And the best option to do recovery to get the logs applied.
