how employee can apply for a half day leave??

Dear Gurus,

How the employee can apply for half day leave wherein absence management screen showing only the start date and end date by which we can calculate the number of days 1 or more than that.

and also whenever employee joined in a month he/she supposed to get full accrual, how to put this condition in accrual formula.
