Disable a value on a segment

Hello

Please can you advise what do we need to check if we would like to disable a GL company value. (a segment company).

The total for any open codes on these companies comes to zero there are still balances held on individual lines which net off against other lines.

What procedures need to be completed in order to close the entities and is it possible to complete these whilst balances exist or must these be individually cleared before the closure can proceed?

Also, once these companies are disabled we want to ensure they no longer appear on our reports - will this happen by default?
