CST: Category Accounts Definition Level

Hello,

We are on 12.2.6 and using standard costing.If we have to use product line accounting , there is a profile that needs to be setup CST: Category Accounts Definition Level.It has two options cost group or subinventory.For standard costing if we set this to cost group level will it have any effect since cost groups work only in average costing org?
