Attention: To align with new corporate security policies, and to match policies adopted by other communities within Oracle, the My Oracle Support Community access requirements will change beginning September 18, 2025. Use text value in an IfThen function

I am trying to base a formula on a value in a text field.

For example.

IfThen([1,A] = text, 1+3, 1+4)

When I do this I'm told there is an error in my formula and the 'text' value if referenced

Is there another way to do this?
