Can the day dimension be removed from the Clnd hierarchy

I want to know if there will be any impact if we rebuild our environment without a day dimension since we do not use that dimension at all, as no measures are sourced at the day dimension and no data is loaded at that dimension.  I'm primarily concerned with it's impact as it relates to the RPAS_Today variable and the system date.  Does RPAS require the DAY dimension for any reason.
