Apex interactive report excel and csv takes long to download

Hi

We have built an apex application to replace discoverer, we use it for HR reporting. We are on version 5.1.3.00.05.

We are experiencing an issue with certain reports, for example a report would take 18 seconds to run in apex, but more than 10 minutes to download, when choosing excel or csv

Assistance will be appreciated
