What determines what database ebs connects to or how do I find db I'm connected to

If the front end is not accessible.

How do I determine what database my ebs is connected to? Can I login to OAM from a backdoor?

I ask because today, my production database suddenly would not allow logins.  The error was ' Not able to authenticate'. Clearing the cache got past this but then showed another error. The first line in the error stack is this:

oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: Could not load application module 'oracle.apps.fnd.framework.navigate.server.OANavigatePortletAM'.

Someone was able to login, the go to help-> about. It showed a cloned database and server name for the database.
