RMAN - Shutdown Immediate Issue

Hi everyone,

I today was attempting to restore from an RMAN backup and issued a shutdown immediate command (from the RMAN prompt) ready to mount the DB and start a restore.

However the RMAN shutdown immediate hung within the terminal.

The alert.log looks like this:

Thread 1 advanced to log sequence 571 (LGWR switch)

  Current log# 1 seq# 571 mem# 0: /u06/oradata/VSAM/redo01.log
