Oracle Virtual Machine boot failure

edited Sep 24, 2018 12:12PM in Exadata General (MOSC) 5 commentsAnswered

Hi All,

I have a virtual machine on an VM Server running on exalytics hardware. The VM has failed to boot with errors like "dracut Warning: No root device "block:/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00 found". From this I suspect some one corrupted the /etc/fstab file and a volume cannot be mounted. Please assist me on how I can have access to the /etc/fstab file on the VM so that I can modify it appropriately. Will really appreciate any help out there.

Below are the console logs:

dracut: Scanning devices xvda2 xvdb1  for LVM logical volumes VolGroup00/LogVol01 VolGroup00/LogVol00
