IP 18 Siebel Server Startup Slowness and Stability - Just add more cores
Investigating a customer complaint that IP 18 Siebel Server start was very slow and some components did not start up correctly. The issue is very simple. In order for the Siebel service to start in a reasonable amount of time more cores are needed than before when we had the SRF.
In a dev environment with 4 cores it took nearly 8 minutes for the server to start. When we increased the cores to 16 the server started in under 3 minutes. With 16 cores the server was never fully maxes out at 100% CPU like it was with 4 cores and things became more stable. Think 4 cores as an "accidental" stress test and that is why the components were not all starting as they should
