EntityManager is sometimes null due to upgrade from 12.1.3.0 to 12.2.1.3

After upgrading our weblogic server from version 12.1.3.0 to 12.2.1.3, there are cases where the EntityManager is null whereas it shouldn't.

We get the following error :
