Service contract status and termination

I have a service contract created for future date, it is approved and signed and now it is showing

Status = Entered, Negotiation Status = Complete.

When does status will be 'ACTIVE', will it automatically get Status = Active when the specified future date is started in the application?

In my case Service contract, Start Date = 15-APR-2020, End Date = 14-APR-2028

Status = Entered, Negotiation Status = Complete.

How to terminate this contract.

when I try to terminate, getting this error "This operation is not allowed for the contract/line - in its current status"
