Hello Gurus,

We're in the process of migrating our db's (RAC 11g and 12c) running on ASM from on-prem to AWS EC2. currently we use Hitachi storage array for storage for DB. Can we copy ASM lun to EC2 instance and bring up the dbs in cloud?

One of the DBA's was saying we can't do block copy with ASM .I'm confused.

What is the difference between storage snapshot and block copy? does both needs DB to be quiesced?
