Database Migration Assistant for Unicode

I have the task of converting a database with WE8ISO8859P1 to AL32UTF8, and have been working through a thicket of MOS notes on the use of DMU.  Especially 1546507.1 and 1272374.1 and have a few qustions.

First:

1546507.1 has a very nice walk-through, but as far as actually starting the tool, all it says is "The serverside Oracle RDBMS version requirements and how to install and start the DMU client are documented in Note 1272374.1 The Database Migration Assistant for Unicode (DMU) Tool"

So I open 1272374 and search for 'start', and find this:

When using the 12.1.0.2 instalation start for Unix platforms $ORACLE_HOME/dmu/dmu.sh and
