EBS 11i to R12.2.7 upgrade : init.ora parameter memory_target

Hello,

Can we use    "memory_target"   for EBS upgrade from 11i to R12.2 .      Is there any documentation on performance  benefits using memory_target rather than   setting   sga_target and pga_aggregrate_target ?

During our test run ,  we are using memory_target set to 24G ,   and are seeing performance issues?     Any  suggestions would be helpful
