Location Won't Scan with Dash in LA04

For a branch that has BLANK Separator Character in Branch/Plant Constants, we are having some odd behavior with a location that uses a dash in the LA04 field, though we were able to create the location.

We are unable to scan this location

We noticed for another branch that has DASH as the Separator Character in Branch/Plant Constants, we are unable to even create a location with a dash in the LA04 field.

What is the rule for using a dash, or special character in Aisle, Bin, Loc 03 or Loc 04 for branch plan with no Separator Character.
