Disposal journals not posting to F0902

I have had repeated problems posting disposal journals.  An asset is disposed in FA which then creates a Z batch with the disposal entry.  Posting the Z batch seems to work - it creates records in the F0911 and marks them as posted - but it does not update the balances in the F0902.  Running the R099102 fixes the issue but I'm curious as to how and why this keeps happening?  This is in JDE E1 9.1 running on Tools 9.1.3.
