Disk and Diskgroup issues for 12.2.x during redeployments, disk addition or diskpack expansion

in Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) (MOSC)

I have recently seen a few issues with disks and diskgroups more than a few times so thought some more information might help others.

I will add some more information as time allows but did want to get this information out to the community,

Not all of these issues have the same source, but most are resolved in the 12.2.1.4 ODA version.

Unable to deploy / upgrade on an ODA 12.2.x version due to disk or diskgroup problems

The main flavors are some variation of the following: Unknown disks or unknown [including pre-existing] diskgroups

  • Diskgroup is not added      
    - This can happen during the deployment if diskgroup metadata is detected from a previous installation.
