Can we bounce the gateway server alone in Siebel 8.0.0.12 version.

Bounce the gateway server alone in Siebel 8.0.0.12 version. We are in Red Hat 5.0 tikanga. Can we bounce the gateway server alone instead of following the routine procedure? Also, do we need to bounce the VM's after particular amount of time? What is the procedure for the above two?
