Standard Cost "Mass Edit Actual Material Costs"

Does anybody know the calculation for the Standard Costing Mass Cost Edit functionality using the concurrent program  "Mass Edit Actual Material Costs" when parameter edit option is "Update material costs to invoice cost average"? Including when an item has a Return to Vendor within the timeframe which has not been re-received.
