Will it cause an issue during 1099 processing if some address book records have a dash in the Tax Id

Some of our address book records have a dash in the Tax ID # and some do not.  Will it cause an issue during 1099 processing?  I know that the Webcast mentioned that the dash location is based on if it's a "N" or a "P".
