Dangers of Excluding Configured Items From MRP?

According to MOS document 1511013.1:

Requirements Planning (MRP/DRP) is not designed to be run against configured items (Stock
Type C) as features, segment answers and unique configuration ID are not
considered.

What are the dangers of excluding them from the planning generation?
