Hi

12.1.0.2.0

RAC (2 instances) with dataguard

My question is what would be the rule of thumb regaring log switch frequency.

From http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_log_switch_frequency.htm, I can see, that no more than 5.

Answer:  In a production environment it is important to size your online redo log files to ensure that the frequency of redo log switches is not more than 5 log switches per hour during peak DML activity.

Will these recommendations still apply at present time..?

I am asking, regarding our production database, which has rather heavy load on peak DML activity.

On node1, it's 5-6 per hour average. If taken into account peak hours only (8AM - 5PM), then this average is over 10 per hour.

Howdy, Stranger!
