BOM and Routing Revision numbers in Oracle

Hi

We are creating BOM and Routing via interface from 3rd Party system. Revision numbers are incremental of 1, starting rev is 0 and moved till 9. Further revision to 10 is erroring out in the interface as 10 is lower to 9. Is it a character validation. If that so how do we increment it, do we have to suffix it.
