How does the xmlpserver URL work?

Hi Everyone,

I am not aware of BI Publisher architecture in details and having trouble understanding a few things. I have mentioned my doubts in points below, would appreciate if someone could guide me. We are using BI publisher 11.1.1.7.0 version in a Windows server and the weblogic architecture is the following:

As seen in weblogic console, we only have an Admin server, no Managed servers are there. All deployments, including bipublisher (11.1.1) is targeted to the Admin server itself. There are 3 data sources defined bip_datasource, EPMSystemRegistry and mds-owsm, and all three point to BI database.

We have another application CC&B which primarily uses BI to create reports and Bill PDFs. Under xmlpserver -> Scheduler Administration, the JDBC string was recently updated to point to CC&b database's RPTSCHD schema (this schema was cloned from BI's RPTSCHD schema, and has all scheduler related tables). The BI database was shutdown after this. Please find my doubts below:
