Pricing components based on the parent item.Does anyone now

Does anyone know a way to price component items based on values in the parent?  Same component would have different pricing across different parent items.

Example:  Component has a generic value in a category code.  This generic value would tell the system to go to the parent item to get the values for this category code.  Then the component would be priced based on the value from the parent.

Example of the above:

- Component item has '###' in SRP3.  Tells the system to go to the parent item and get the SRP3 from there.

- Price the component based on the SRP3 value from the parent.
