12c ASM: Write failed / Read failed, 'I/O error', failed to submit an I/O operation to a disk

Hello,

1. Two instances of Oracle 12c database residing on one of the nodes in our cluster environment are currently down. Based on the content of alert_<sid>.log files I can assume that there have been some problems with accessing ASM storage:

2. When I'm trying to list the ASM root directory I have the following:

Whereas physically there are 3 disks:

So I guess, two out of three disks got offline for some reason.

3. When I do the same on the first node I get the following output:

This node is working just fine.

4. Since these two are inaccessible, I'm not able to verify their usage via sqlplus:
