How to bulk inactivate customer addresses in iStore?

We've been asked to remove the 'Create Address' in iStore which can be done using the 'Roles' functionality but we have thousands of Customer Addresses that need to be removed or inactivated as there are thousands created since 2010. How do I remove these addresses or make them inactive? I did an update to the table to set the Active flag 'A' to Inactive flag 'I' and it did what I wanted it to do but have concerns whether this is allowed or not? I mean if I went into each field and clicked 'Inactive' for each one it surely
