Archive backups retention strategy

Hi, I'm asking some inputs on what are the common strategies used to retain archive logs backups.

Our backups are done to virtual tapes located on data domains, this backups are taken via a 3rd party tool (Commvault) with this tool calling the RMAN commands.

The tool will also remove the archives from the disk once it's backed up.

Now my question is, I notice the retention of archive logs are set to 3 months. Do note archive logs backups are taken quite frequently e.g. every 15mins. Thus it's rather huge.

We also have a full backup taken every week & an incremental backups taken daily, this 2 backups are also retain for 3 months.
