Can the EAM asset hierarchy be secured so user can only see one branch?

We have an EAM Asset Hierarchy with multiple branches and sub-branches.  Is it possible to secure it so several users can only access the assets in their sub-branch?  We will not be able to secure by responsibility; we need to secure at the user-level.
