Get "Invalid Locator" error message when using On-Hand Material Status

When disallowing subtransfer WIP material transactions, miscellaneous transactions, for on-hand material status we get an "Invalid Locator" error message (see attached) instead of 'Invalid material status' error.  Oracle has indicated that this is standard functionality.  Has anyone found a work around for this as it causes confusion with users (large company, many individuals transacting) or any suggestions on how we may be able to customize the error messages.
