Understanding Level 0 backup and recovery
We have received a level 0 RMAN backup of a large database.
The source db backup took about 15 hours, so there will have been significant activity on it as the backup ran, meaning after restore it requires recovery.
The backup (external company) was taken with a TAG specified. We think they use their normal incremental location, but run this LEVEL 0 to teh same location and dump the whole lot to us, so we get lots of files we dont actually need. We think that for this reason, running RESTORE simple with SCN or SEQUENCE specified or used RESTORE fails as it tries to find "missing" pieces.
