Managing equivalent courses taken in academic advisement report

For each requirement in a student academic structure, we display to the student every courses that can be taken to fulfill that requirement. We do that so that the student can easily know which courses to take and can easily get information on a course and/or suscribe to it, by clicking on it.
We have a problem with managing equivalent courses that way though, as an equivalent course taken do appear in the AA report, but the associated original course (in the requirement) is still displayed, and appears as not completed. The students often end up being confused by their AA report and on which courses they still need to take. Students will sometimes try to subscribe to a course to only then realize that they have already completed an equivalent course.
