UDO Debugging

Does anyone have suggestions for debugging UDOs? For example, connecting to a URL from a composed page gives an error saying the page cannot be found. I know what the issue was but am wondering if anyone has some valuable insight as to how they have debugged issues with UDOs; including what logs you find most helpful to review. Thanks!
