EM13c remote monitoring of standalone sql server targets.

We are considering monitoring 2500 sql server targets remotely from a centralized windows agent.  We do not require host monitoring from EM as we use SCOM for OS monitoring.   We want to know if remote monitoring is recommended for standalone sql server targets?  We understand that the centralized agent would need to be supported by windows cluster for HA.  The advantage is we only have to install/patch one agent instead of 2500 windows agents/
