multiple griddisk on a celldisk

Can we create multiple griddisk on a celldisk ?  From some of the documents, I see we can.  Want to confirm.

Also, what benefits do we accrue by doing that ?

Specifically 1) can we segregate the griddisks for specific databases 2) segregate based on resource manager plans

3) Some blogs mention that multiple griddisks on a single celldisk help in allocating storage based on performance.
