Any best practice for planning Oracle Backup & Recovery?

Hi All,

Is there any documentation by Oracle or external source regarding the best practice in planning for an efficient backup & recovery strategy?

I've been assign to look for improvement on my company's current strategy which they receive an input to improve from our auditor.

Current backup method is a text book basic ( 1 copies of weekly full, daily incremental & hourly archive logs backups all stored in a single location).

I wasn't around when they did the initial planning & discussion for this strategy & there's no documentation as well!

So basically I need to start from scratch.
