Item shortage "runout" same day as scheduled receipt

Does anyone experience instances where their material run out becomes the exact same day as the scheduled PO receipt? I am wondering how to see this within exceptions? Today as I am aware no exception message is triggered as ASCP expects the material to be here at beginning of plan and therefore have plenty of supply.
However we have had a handful of instances where we get caught and shutdown a line for a shift because material didn't arrive until later that day and we were unaware of this issue.
Are people using custom reports or forms to capture these few instances and chances that this happens?
